Among the high growth
situations we have been involved in are:
- A toy company,
where we headed finance and operations, grew over 400% in
one year when they released a product that became one of the
top sellers. We made the moves to revamp finance and
operations the year before that made this growth possible
while adding very few people. Otherwise, they could
not have scaled up and would have turned away much volume.
We also made the appropriate mid stream adjustments once we
knew we had a hot product on our hands. It was also
profitable growth, helped by our guidance on their marketing
strategy, convincing them before launch that there was a gap
in the market and so this product could command a premium
price.
- At a pharmaceutical
manufacturer where we were the CFO, once we completed our
turnaround moves, we went through some extreme growth, going
from $8 million to $52 million in just two years. The
groundwork we had laid in the finance and IT areas provided
the infrastructure to effectively handle this growth without
adding more than a handful of people. We went from losing
money to earning 56% net income after tax on sales, the highest
in our industry.
- For a telecom
client, we did a variety of projects, helping them go from
launch to $200 million in just three years. Another
example of hyper-growth. During this time we helped
the finance, marketing and revenue assurance areas.
In particular we helped them set the rate plans and built
tools for their salespeople, which helped them capture the
business. Then we helped them get bad debts under control,
which then turned this into profitable growth, without which
they could not have sold the company.
Three very different
industries, yet examples of three firms where we came in and had
an impact. All three firms found a niche and were able to
take on the customers and volume of business, without having to
turn away business. All three firms grew very profitably.
